Scuba @ Swinton

All 9 Secondary schools in the Partnership were offered DfES money to pay for alternative activities in Key Stage 4. The schools that accessed the money have been able to increase participation by offering opportunities such as scuba diving, yoga, boxing, and bollywood and bhangra dancing.

Swinton Community School has worked alongside their SSCo in organizing a 4 week block of scuba diving sessions. The pupils attending the club have been able for the first time to try diving in the safety of a swimming pool, whilst also completing several modules of the PADI Open Course.

Andy Scattergood Head of PE Department at Swinton is thrilled with success of the club ‘70% of youngsters accessing the club would not normally attend any Physical Education Out of Hours’.
